The Laser
Show Spectacular was produced to mark the completion of Star TV's five channel
free-to-air line up with the launch of its' Star Entertainment Channel. The
launch event comprised a first of its kind laser display in Hong Kong and a concert by
some of Asia's leading artists.
The Concept was to use the
Cultural Center Piazza area as a focal point. Two laser video projectors were given a
front position to allow camera coverage of live stage action. Video playback was
projected onto the wall of the Cultural Center with an image scale of 60' x 40'.
Alongside the two LVPs (laser video projectors) was one Hardware and two 6,000-watt Pani BP Gold large format image projectors
to cover the entire front wall of the Cultural Center with graphic and photographic
images, logos and moving atmospheric backdrops.
A blue/green 20-watt laser was on the
rooftop of the Cultural Center utilizing Victoria Harbor and buildings, on the Hong Kong
side, as a backdrop for atmospheric laser effects.
Along the edge of the roof, 20 reflective mirrors were
mounted to throw beams created by the lasers back into the Piazza area as well as up
into the sky over Tsim Tsa Tsui.
Over 10,000 people crowded into
the Cultural Center Piazza for a two-hour sound and light show, featuring videos and live
performances by Asian and American artists, including Hong Hong singing superstar Anita Mui.
